This exquisitely crafted unglazed ceramic tumbler is the perfect container for your daily refreshments. Whether you are sipping a sparkling botanical water, a cold-brewed iced tea, or your favourite evening tonic, the unglazed interior works to gently aerate your beverage, enhancing its flavour profile and bringing a delightfully soft texture to every sip.
Designed with both aesthetics and function in mind, the elegant, slender silhouette naturally preserves effervescence, allowing you to savour sparkling drinks for longer. A thoughtful contrast in texture defines this piece: the earthy, tactile roughness of the cup's body rests securely and beautifully in the hand, while the smoothly finished, slightly flared rim provides a flawless drinking experience. Finished in a soft, light colour palette, this versatile vessel effortlessly complements contemporary table settings and diverse cuisines, making it a year-round staple for your home.
Beyond its physical beauty, this tumbler is steeped in 300 years of regional heritage as a quintessential piece of Obori Soma ware from Fukushima Prefecture. It proudly features the dynamic "Hidari Uma" (left-facing horse) motif. Also known as the galloping or running horse, this historic symbol represents the belief that "no one can surpass them." Cherished for centuries as a talisman of good fortune and unrivalled excellence, this beautifully crafted cup serves as both an everyday luxury and an exceptionally meaningful gift to celebrate milestones, new beginnings, or the people you cherish most.

About the Region
About the Region
Obori-soma Ware
Tracing its origins back 350 years in Fukushima, this venerable craft is celebrated for its signature Aohibi (blue crackle glaze) and ingenious double-layered construction (a unique design providing excellent heat insulation). Having faced the near-loss of its production base following the devastating 2011 earthquake, which forced 25 potters of the region to abandon their kilns, their collective spirit has fuelled an inspiring revival, with a small number of workshops reopening in new locations despite the adversity.
More than just ceramic history, these vessels embody a legacy of perseverance and renewal. Obori Soma artisans ensure that their cultural treasure remains vital and relevant. Each finished work stands as a symbol of regional pride, crafted to connect modern homes with the indomitable character of Fukushima.
